A Christmas Gift

Rachel At The Beach
6x6 Oil on Masonite
Not Available

I have been planning on giving my four daughters paintings that I had done of them over time. I had individual paintings of all of them except for my oldest daughter, Rachel. I set to work creating a painting for her of a beach scene, one of my favorite things to paint. It was from a day long ago on West Grand Traverse Bay when we still lived in Texas but came to Michigan to spend the summers. She was only 8 years old. It looks just like her.

St Francis Art Show

This past Saturday was the St. Francis Art Show. It was a juried event and the first Art Show I have been in. Although sales could have been better, it was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity for some exposure in the community. I was able to meet many of the local artists and to see how different people function in the art world. I would also like to thank my dad, Ray Popp, for helping me put together the display partitions that I used for the show. They were constructed of louvered doors (this was my bright idea) and dad helped me put them together. The over all look came off great and I was please with how they showed. Also not knowing what to expect from the show I was glad that they were so versatile and worked well to adjust to the situation. They also worked to show one of my faux finishes. The two center doors were white when I purchased them and rather than try to strip them down and stain them to match I chose to paint them and try to match the finish color. I think they were over all very successful.

Thank you to everyone that came out to support me in this event. It was so good to see so many familiar faces and to show them my paintings. The inspiration you all offered will go far to encourge me in my art work. I got a good feeling of what it is that people would like to see more of and which direction I would like to take with my paintings.

Keep watching and offering your feed back, I hope you will like what you see.

Cedar Farm
8x10 Oil on Masonite

This painting is of a farm near Cedar, Michigan just off S. Lake Shore Drive. We were out for a fall color drive and this cow was very fascinated and curious with me.

Antique Porcelain Pitcher Still Life

These paintings are both available framed at Evergreen Gallery.
Robert H Manning Memorial Light, Empire Beach Park
9x12 Oil on Masonite

This painting is from a photo I took at the Empire Beach Park on Lake Michigan this past summer. The memorial light was dedicated to Robert Manning, a resident fisherman who always thought a lighthouse would help guide them home after fishing. The shadows were a challenge but I think they worked out well.

Water Lily Palette

9x12 Oil on Masonite

Available at Evergreen Gallery

This painting was a fun one to do and got its name because I have learned how to use my palatte a little differently than I have before, introducing new colors and using some of the tubes of paint that I dug out of Grandma Bauer's paint box.
